Today we are starting to blog about our travels. First a walk to one of our favorite restaurants here in Fergus Falls, Pizza Ranch. Here we had a slight delay as Sue wanted a fresh pea from our garden.
We walk around the area and I measure my distance with my iTouch and an app. Sue uses and likes her Fitbit that logs all her activities during the day. Since March first we have walked about 250 miles.
Our favorite restaurant, and the closest!
Ashton is the General Manager of the Pizza Ranch. She stops by for a chat, has regular and dessert pizzas made to request and offers this restaurant as a fund-raising site for non-profits.
Phelps Mill is located on the Otter Tail river about 25 miles from Fergus Falls. The dam provided hydro power to the mill to serve farmers around the area. It closed in the 1930's due to increased competition from large mills in Minneapolis. Now a park, a festival is held each summer with entertainment, food and many craft vendors.
The Underwood Lions provide people movers to bring folks from the free parking lot.
The Lions also provide pork chops that are very popular and a good fundraiser for them.
Musical acts are always popular. This one does country western music
This Master Turner comes each year with his lathe to demonstrate his art. Chips are flying!
This is some of his work and while I was waiting for him to turn a product, someone interrupted him to purchase a turning. He said that he was sorry to interrupt his work but he had to attend to the delay.
Like the above picture, the Norwegian ancestry is evident everywhere and all descendants are very proud hence the Norwegian flag. It is the wrong season to sell lutefisk.
