A visit to Jasper's Theater

For the third time, we traveled to Park Rapids, MN, to watch the show at the Jasper theater.  This is a family-owned entertainment venue.  Most of the performers are related except for a few notables.

The theater has grown over the years in attendance and no tour-buses bring folks to view the show.

The theater operates on a limited schedule in the summer.

Jack Sand, a former weather-caster on Channel 6 in Fargo, ND, is the host, funnyman and magician in the cast.  He is one of the notables that is not related to the family.

Kathie Brekke is the daughter of the founder, Dee Johnson, and serves as the director of Jasper’s Theater.

Jack Sand and Darlene (or “Auntie Kreamsaugen”) Rolle is Kathie’s aunt and a very good comedienne.

Kathie’s son, Dan Brekke, is an excellent musician.  A little plug for him is stated in the label.

Fourth of July

It has been a while since we made our last posting to this blog.  We’ve not done much traveling but we ard bringing you up-to-date on some of the trips we’ve made close to our home here in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.  We went to a Fourth of July parade and Erhard, Minnesota.   It is about 17 miles north of Fergus, so we found a seat on the parade route, and took some nice pictures of patriotic colors.

This picture shows the history and pride of country present here in Otter Tail County of Minnesota.  The old Farmall tractor, long made obsolete by modern equipment, is the right color to celebrate the Fourth of July.  Today it is commonplace for children to bring bags to the parade route to collect candy thrown from the parade units.

These ladies show their pride in their or their husband's gift to our country through military service.
