Our first try with a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

This is the site of the garden near our town of Fergus Falls.  The owner, a retired teacher,  is on his tractor.   More information at http://www.bluebirdgardens.net/

Every other Tuesday our box is delivered to this store near our home. Other deliveries are made to sites convenient to subscribers in the area.  Some goes to Fargo, ND.

There are two sizes of boxes; large with red labels and small with blue labels.   Boxes are delivered to Premier Meats each week and we have chosen the small box every other week.  That should be plenty for the two of us.

Our first box consisted of Nevada lettuce, a cucumber, a head of cabbage and pea shoots.  I had never heard of Nevada lettuce but we had some this noon and it was very good.  The pea shoots are another item that I had never heard of.  It tastes a bit piquant.

More later....
